Cargo bikes in Madrid: sustainable mobility for families and professionals

Madrid is one of the cities where cargo bikes have the greatest potential in Spain. With the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) Madrid Central, combustion vehicles have restricted access to the city center. Electric cargo bikes are the ideal solution for urban deliveries, family transport and last-mile services.

From biciscargo.es we distribute in Madrid the models from Cycles du Midi —manufactured in France with 80% French-origin components— and the XYZ Cargo models from Wed Cargo, manufactured in Toulouse under XYZ Cargo license. All our vehicles are human-powered or electric-assisted (250W), EPAC compliant, and can ride on bike lanes and 30km/h streets without restrictions.

The Plan MUEVE of the Community of Madrid offers grants of up to 600€ for the purchase of electric bikes, including cargo bikes. Our bikes are eligible for these grants. Contact us for information on requirements and how to apply.

Cycling culture in Madrid

Madrid has more than 300 km of bike lanes, including the Madrid Río cycling ring and the Sanchinarro green corridor. The BiciMAD service, with more than 6,000 electric bikes and 600 stations, demonstrates the city's commitment to sustainable mobility. Cargo bikes complement this ecosystem, offering cargo capacity that conventional bikes cannot provide.

Madrid's cycling infrastructure is progressively adapting to cargo bikes. The lanes along the Prado-Recoletos axis, Madrid Río and the city center streets are perfectly rideable with our biporteurs (63 cm wide). The XYZ Cargo Trike, with its three wheels, offers superior stability for frequent stops in professional deliveries.
